JOB SUMMARY

Some of the major job functions include but are not limited to:

Under the direction of the supervisor and manager:

  • Lead housekeeping employees to ensure all necessary tasks are completed correctly and on time.
  • Provide instruction, training, and orientation to housekeeping employees.
  • Organize and direct the daily tasks of housekeeping employees.
  • Provides input to supervisor for employee discipline and recognition.
  • Provides input to supervisor for employee evaluations.
  • Performs all housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available to complete daily tasks.
  • Follows safety and infection control policies and all other hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Attends required department meetings, in-services, and continuing education classes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required by manager.
  • Models the positive, progressive, and forward-thinking attitude of a patient experience ambassador.

Cleanliness: Maintains a high standard of cleanliness for all facility areas.

  • Cleans furnishings, floors, and walls to remove all visible soils.
  • Places and removes caution signs in areas being cleaned as needed.
  • Cleans and returns all equipment to proper storage area. 

Facility Maintenance: Ensures public areas are in a sanitary condition at all times. 

  • Cleans restrooms, patient rooms, and surgical suites according to department policy and procedure. 
  • Assists with linen management. 
  • Replenishes all dispensable items such as paper towels, tissues, etc.
  • Empties trash and ensures that the trash receptacle is clean. 

Guest Relations: Promotes quality guest relations with both internal and external customers. 

  • Greets and responds to customer requests promptly.
  • Answers phones, responds to requests, and handles issues in a cheerful manner. 

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: 3 years of experience Housekeeping in a commercial or healthcare setting. 1 - 5 years in a lead role preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure: N/A

Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Must be able to see and read English language instructions. Ability to multitask and prioritize. Ability to work independently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical Demand Code: 11A, Environmental Services

Work Function/Activity: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand

The job requires climbing (ladder, steps) and frequently bending/stooping. Constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
